Let's face it, most Geocachers will be the friendliest people that you will ever meet, however, there are those other Geocachers that love pranking the upcoming cacher. Pranking can be funny and fun as long as there is no harm for the other Cacher.
Geokids locate the Geocache

During a Summer hike of 2017, we left for a drive around the city to find a series of magnetic caches and stumbled on a Geoprank, that's what I'd like to call. I had planned a series of Magnetic caches for the family to hunt down since it was really overcast and calling for rain on that day, we felt like simple Park & Grabs would be perfect on that day.  Normally Park & Grabs are fairly your average simple Geocaches however this one came with a nice twist. We got in the car and drove around finding most of the Geocaches and saved this one for last. I liked how the structure looked almost like a snowflake and is entirely made of metal you would assume finding a magnetic cache would be easy enough.
Once arrived at the Ground Zero we proceeded to search around the structure even climbing it to see if we will see anything that looked like a Geocache.
My son took a peek at the structure and yelled that he could see something far up there that looked like a Geocache container. I laughed and thought, you have to be kidding me there is no way we're ever going to get that down from there. Sure enough, the Geocache container was thrown super high inside the bottom of the structure, being a magnetic cache you can only imagine how far up there it went before the magnetic stuck to the side of the giant metal snowflake.

As addicted as we are to this game once the Geocache has been located there is no leaving it there without signing the logbook. We needed to improvise and think of something that we could use that would be long enough to go inside the tunnel and pull the Geocache container down. We start looking around and being close to the forest we go searching for a branch that would be long enough to go inside the tube to claim the geocache.

Geo dad finds a branch that can be used to
pull out the geocache. Try to find a branch that is
already laying on the ground.
We found the branch, we proceed by cleaning all the extra branches and twigs to make a straight stick that can be wedged inside the snowflake. After a while, we succeed at cleaning the branch and hope it's long enough to reach the Geocache. I also love planning each Geocache and being prepared when arriving at the cache location. This Geocache tested us with needing to use what was around in order to get the geocache in our hands to sign.

Both my kids were so interested in seeing if we would manage to claim the geocache. Seeing them so eager in finding it brought a smile to my face, they love this hobby just as much as I do, which means a lot to me. I love being able to Geocache with my entire family, I find it's important to allow your children to have a sense of adventure, the love they have for exploring amazes me and makes me so happy, as a mother I love that we can share all those things together. Geocaching is an activity the entire family love taking part in.
This Geocache took close to an hour to retrieve but we shared so many laughs while each taking our turn to try and reach up for the Geocache.
It didn't bother me that it was taking so long for us to find ways in claiming the Geocache, I was happy to be outside spending time with my family, my kids, we were all laughing and enjoying our time even though it was all just to find a small plastic container wedged up a metal snowflake. This was time spent with family and us using our crafty outdoor skills.

After what felt like forever of poking the geocache we finally we able to move it from right to left and each movement lowered the cache little by little. This was a lot of hard work for a tiny Geocache.

Geo dad did most of the work once the branch was able to reach the Geocache, he brought the Geocache to arms reach. My son then was getting excited as he wanted to be the one to reach in and claim the Geocache we had been working so hard at retrieving.
So many other Geocachers had been to this location marking it all as a did not find (DNF), we were happy to break that chain and be the first Geocachers in a while to claim the Geocache.
This Geocache has to mark the most fun Park&Grab that we have ever found, even though I doubt it being that high up there was intentional by the cache owner, as it's hint was " Won't require much work" Unless they were being sarcastic about the entire thing, if so, then well done to the cache owner as this require a lot of work on our end. But was the most fun we have had finding a P&G in a long time.

We were really happy to be able to claim a smiley face for this Park & Grab. We also re-hid the cache, however, not as high as the previous hidder. That was mean, but fun if that makes sense, it would have been just as fun hidden at the same level we re-hid it. I was so glad this was the last cache of the day so I could go clean up the dirt and corrosion that fell from the snowflake and into my hair after poking the cache trying to get it to fall down. We do hope to find another P&G that requires work to retrieve it, its made the experience so much fun than doing your traditional park, grab the cache, sign and go.
This is our story of the most fun park and grab we have ever found. Have you ever had to improvise with what's around you in order to find a Geocache? If so let us know your story. We would love to read about it.

Thank you so much for reading and
Happy Caching!
